At SPARC, we believe cannabis can have several positive impacts. The cannabis plant is a medicine, with potent healing powers. Socially, the cannabis community can help lift up other communities. And through responsible cultivation practices, we can be good stewards of the land. It is for these reasons we started Carts for a Cause. Feel good and do good at that same time.

UNTIL THE LAST CANNABIS PRISONER IS SET FREE

ABOUT LAST PRISONER PROJECT

Last Prisoner Project (LPP) focuses on social justice by release incarcerated cannabis prisoners, given that those acts are now legal. The organization does this through three key criminal justice reform initiatives:

  1. RELEASE & RECORD CLEARING — working to release individuals still incarcerated for victimless cannabis offenses and clearing their records through expungement and clemency
  2. REENTRY PROGRAMS —helping those released from prison rebuild their lives through reentry programs such as vocational training programs and building pathways to employment
  3. LEGISLATIVE ADVOCACY —working on a federal and state-by-state basis to advocate for social justice measures for cannabis offenders as well as conducting research and analysis on current legislative and regulatory policies

Collectively these programs help cannabis prisoners become “fully free”.

WHY WE SUPPORT LAST PRISONER PROJECT

From the beginning, SPARC has always been a strong believer of working with communities and local, state, and federal governments to correct unjust and unfair cannabis policies. SPARC also works to support those most affected by those policies.

At the local level, SPARC actively works with both city and county governments to pass responsible cannabis legislation. Since adult use legalization in 2018, SPARC has called on local DAs to expunge marijuana convictions — and holds them accountable until there are results that positively impact thousands of people.

At the federal level, SPARC was the first official member of the National Cannabis Industry Association (NCIA), the leading organization advocating for a responsible cannabis industry. SPARC founder Erich Pearson proudly served on the NCIA board from 2010 to 2020, much of that time alongside LPP founder Steve DeAngelo.

SPARC is also a proud supporter of several Social Equity programs that directly benefit those most impacted by the War on Drugs. SPARC’s Social Equity Resource Center is a resource for the cannabis community, and—by spotlighting the Social Equity Brands we proudly support—we encourage our customers to get to know these great brands and their owners.

With the LPP Carts for a Cause cartridge, we’re happy to our long fight to correct the wrongs of unjust and unfair cannabis policies.

WISDOM, SUPPORT, TRUTH, & HOPE

ABOUT LIVING BEYOND BREAST CANCER

Living Beyond Breast Cancer (LBBC) is a national nonprofit organization that seeks to create a world that understands there is more than one way to have breast cancer. Their mission is to provide trusted information and a community of support to those impacted by the disease. They do so by offering in-person experiences and on-demand emotional, practical, and evidence-based content that is meaningful to those newly diagnosed, in-treatment, post-treatment, and living with metastatic disease. They are committed to creating a culture of acceptance—where sharing the diversity of the lived experience of breast cancer fosters self-advocacy and hope.

WHY WE SUPPORT LIVING BEYOND BREAST CANCER

This charity was chosen by one of our team members who recently survived a rare form of breast cancer. We want to remind you that breast cancer is not gender-specific; while 1 in 8 women will experience breast cancer in their lifetime, it can occur across the gender spectrum. If you have breast tissue, regular self exams are a must.

WHY WE SUPPORT GLBT HISTORICAL SOCIEY

SPARC is proud to be a LGBTQ-owned organization. We have a long history in San Francisco and Sonoma, and we’re committed to giving back to our local communities that have given so much to us.

We believe in the power of history to inspire, educate, and empower. By supporting the GLBT Historical Society, we are honoring the legacy of LGBTQ+ individuals who have paved the way for progress and equality, while also ensuring that their stories are preserved for future generations. We recognize the importance of celebrating LGBTQ+ history as a means of affirming identity, building community, and promoting social change. Through our partnership with the GLBT Historical Society, we are proud to contribute to the preservation and promotion of LGBTQ+ history, affirming our commitment to inclusivity, diversity, and equality.

We can be the light that radiates kindness, especially toward those who need it most. We can be the light that illuminates knowledge. That defuses falsehoods and stereotypes with veracity and truth. We can be the light that brightens a way forward. That reveals, not just for ourselves, but for all in our community who are earnest, the path to invention and innovation. To understanding and enlightenment. To the start of something even better. And always good.

Light what’s good.
